Ignatius De Loyola
1491-1556
"Let your mind be filled with the thought
that both soul and body
have been created
by the Hand of God; We should love the body
in the same degree that He would love it."

Martin Luther
1438-1546
"The young must leap and jump,
or have something to do,
because they have a natural desire for it
which should not restrained."

Only a few years ago, mainstream religions with few exceptions were not seriously interested
in linking health/fitness to the spiritual life. Television evangelists like Pat Robertson and Ken Copeland now link
the mortal body to the spirituality, and local churches across the nation are following.
http://www.ihpra.org/rama.htm provides some historical information about physical culture and spirituality,
and the "Muscular Christianity" movement of the late-1800s is a great place to begin your study.
