Udall wants more money for physical education
(AP) -- New Mexico Congressman Tom Udall is calling for a
substantial increase in money for physical education programs in schools.
The New Mexico Democrat has sent a letter to the head of the House
Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services and Education.
He's urging the program be increased to $100million dollars.
The Bush administration has proposed just under $70million
dollars. Udall says less than half the schools in America offer physical
education at a time when obesity has become a national problem.
