Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling

From Army Times, 1 Jan 2010

After eight years of war in which battle training was ramped up for every soldier, the pendulum is about to swing back to the basics for the Army’s newest soldiers.  The changes will begin during the first half of 2010, said Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling, deputy commanding general of Training and Doctrine Command for Initial Military Training.  Tops on his list is the physical fitness of new recruits. He also plans to cut down the list of 32 warrior tasks and 12 battle drills that were identified in 2003 as the core things every soldier must know.

Our declining physical culture continues to spill over into the military

A recent WHO Radio interview

Dr. Thomas -- DragonDoor.com has announced
that you will be doing a club swinging workshop for RKC instructors.
Do you ever do them for the general public?

Prefer to focus on Iowa youth and a few of my university students,
but will also present this year at the
www.performbetter.com Chicago 3-Day Summit in June.

Have known the DD team since the 2004 NSCA Convention.
RKC instructors are a natural fit for functional club swinging,
and it is an art worth learning.

Thank you very much for your research about African American Physical Culture.
Your article about A.M. Hewlett is inspiring.
Please post any old Army photos you come across.
Thanks again.  Lawrence

Here's a WWII image Lawrence.
Great to know others share an appreciation of the past.

Your website is incredible, but so large that it's hard to find anything twice without an index.
Where is the page with the guy from Canada that did all the sculptures?
Thanks a lot.

You can only mean R. Tait McKenzie.
Brilliant healer, educator, and artist.
