IHPRA News Graceland University's Fitness Leadership Degree Approved for Online Delivery May 2005 Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa has announced the approval of an online undergraduate degree in Fitness Leadership designed for warriors, first responders, and others interested in a hands-on and action-based fitness leadership education. This program emphasizes restorative and martial arts. The off-duty education RAMA concept was first created for the 2nd Infantry Division in 1983. A second RAMA degree program was later developed at Fort Benning, Georgia in 1994. The Graceland concept includes a unique online delivery system. Courses will also be offered on select military installations. Online courses are now being prepared, and may be offered as early as August 05. Over 40 Army National Guardsmen completed Graceland's first onsite Fitness Leadership course. Most recently, 26 Marines, Sailors, and Airmen from Corry Station, Florida completed a one-week Functional Fitness course through the Graceland program. Juan Carlos Santana and GySgt Paul Sweeney presented world-class training methods. On the third day of the course, students conducted training for approx 1,500 military personnel stationed at Corry Station. Course activities were conducted on the base, at historic Fort Barrancas, and on the beautiful surrounding beaches.
